History of Dripping Springs
The first settlers came to Dripping Springs in 1849 but the first Post Office wasn’t established until 1857. In 1881 the first school the Dripping Springs Academy was built. During the Great Depression the population decreased until after World War II. Between 1980 to 2000 the population of Dripping more than doubled. Today Dripping Springs is a much sought after community because of the natural beauty surrounding the area.
The Salt Lick
The Salt Lick Bar B Que Restaurant has been a Central Texas destination since it’s humble beginnings in 1967. The founder Thurman Roberts started by building a Bar B Que pit on his family’s land. Decades later it is has become legendary. People arrive by car, pickup truck and bus loads to enjoy the food and environment of the Salt Lick.
